Achari Pyaz ( A quick and yummy accompaniment of daal chawal)
I love to eat pure vegetarian food and especially daal chawal is one of my most favourite dishes. I often make different accompaniments with daal chawal such as potato cutlets and shami kebab but today I tried a very quick and different recipe. It is a modification of a recipe by Sanjeev Kapoor. I took the basic idea from his recipe and then modified it in my own way. It was super yummy and yes I love Pyaz.
- Onion 3 cut in big cubes
- Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tsp
- Oil 4 tbsp
- Tamarind Pulp 1 tbsp
- Sugar 1/2 tsp
- Fennel Seeds ( Saunf) 1/2 tsp
- Mustard Seeds (Rai) 1/2 tsp
- Nigella Seeds or Kalaunji 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli Flakes 1 tsp or according to taste
- Green Chillies 2,3 (Slit chillies from center)
- Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Heat oil in a pan or wok and add Rai, Methi and Nigella Seeds till they splutter. After that sauté Green chillies and onion chunks in it till they start changing color from sides.
After that add ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder and fry a little.
Then add rest of the ingredients including tamarind pulp.
Add a little water and cook on high heat for 5-6 minutes till the additional water that you added gets completely dried.
Turn off the stove and eat these yummy tangy achari pyaz with daal chawal.
