Beef Lasagna Recipe
Lasagna is a slightly lengthy to cook but trust me that it is totally worth all the effort.
My kids love to eat it mashAllah and I am sure yours will too.
Different ways are used to cook this dish but I am sharing below the method that I use to make it. I use two types of sauces, one is red sauce, second is white sauce or cheese sauce and then I cook the beef separately.
Lasagna strips a whole pack (Boil according to the instructions on the pack, rinse with cold water and then keep it in cold water to keep the strips from sticking to each other)
Pizza Cheese 250g (grated), you can also use 1/2 pat of grated cheddar cheese and 1/2 pat of mozzarella cheese and mix and use.
Ingredients to prepare Beef
- Ground beef 500g
- Chopped Onion 1
- Garlic Paste 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Soy Sauce 2 tbsp
- Oil 4 tbsp
Take oil in a pan and fry garlic paste a little.
Then add onion and sauté it.
Add ground beef and mix well.
Add salt, pepper, red chilli powder mix well and let it cook covered on very low heat till water in it dries and meat is cooked.
Ingredients for White Sauce / Cheese Sauce
- All Purpose flour 4 tbsp
- Milk 1 ltr
- Salt and Black Pepper to taste
- Nutmeg Powder 1/2 tsp
- Italian Mixed Herbs (oregano, thyme, etc) 1/2 tsp
- Butter 2 tbsp
- Olive Oil 2 tbsp
- Cheddar Cheese, as much you like, you can also make plain white sauce without Cheese
Take olive oil in a pan and add butter to it and put on medium flame.
Add all purpose flour to it and mix till it starts releasing aroma and starts changing color a bit.
Now add milk to it a little at a time while stirring well so no lumps are creates.
Pour all milk in it and also add salt, black pepper powder, herbs, nutmeg powder and mix well.
Let the sauce thicken. Now you can either add cheese in it and make it cheese sauce or use the white sauce as it is.
Ingredients for Red Sauce
- Tomatoes big 8-9 (remove skin after putting in boiling water for a few minutes and make a puree in a food processor)
- Tomato Ketchup 1/2 cup
- Red Chilli flakes 1 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Capsicum 1 deseeded and thinly chopped
- Onion half thinly chopped
- Crushed garlic 1 clove
- Italian Mixed herbs 1/2 tsp
Mix all ingredients mentioned above and put in a pan on stove on low heat and let it simmer till sauce is thick.
Take an oven proof glass dish (casserole dish) and first spread some red sauce and meat in the bottom, if you place lasagna strips in the bottom there are chances that they will stick.
Over that spread lasagna sheets so the whole dish is covered. You can also cut the strips if needed.
Over the sheets spread red sauce, then a thin layer of meat, and then white sauce.
After that again a layer of lasagna sheets, again red sauce, meat and white sauce.
Make the last layer with lasagna sheets as well, spread any white sauce if remaining and then a whole pat of grated pizza cheese till the whole dish is covered with a thick layer.
Pre heat oven and then put the dish in the oven. Bake for 30-40 minutes on 175 till the lasagna is ready.
Turn on the top grill till cheese turns brown and serve.
