Black Pepper (Kali Mirach) Chicken Karahi
Today I cooked black pepper or kali mirchon wali chicken karahi and it was really really good.
You can serve it with naan or roti. It is quick and very easy to cook and unlike other chicken karahi we use onion in it and not tomatoes.
If you like to eat spicy food then increase the number of green chillies. I also used 300g of yogurt as I like more gravy in my karahi.
Ok here is how I made it
- Chicken skinless with bones cut in small pieces 750g
- Onion 1 medium (chopped)
- Ginger Garlic Paste 2 tbsp
- Yogurt 300g
- Salt 1 tsp
- Black Pepper 1.5 tsp
- Cumin Powder 1 tbsp
- Coriander Powder 1 tsp
- Green Chillies 4 (cut in big chunks)
- Fresh Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
- Lemon Juice 1 tsp
- Oil 1/4 cup
Put oil in a wok and put it on stove on medium heat.
Add onion in it and fry till it turns golden.
Add ginger garlic paste and fry a little.
Add chicken pieces and fry for 5-7 minutes on high heat.
After that add cumin powder and coriander powder and keep on frying for another 4-5 minutes till the chicken starts turning golden.
Then add salt, black pepper, green chillies, yogurt and fresh coriander leaves.
Cover the wok with a lid and let it simmer on low-medium heat for 20 minutes.
After that turn the heat high and fry it well, till water gets completely dry and oil completely gets separated from masala.
Squeeze in juice of half lemon and sprinkle some freshly crushed black pepper on it.
Serve it with roti or naan.
