Chinese Five Spice Powder Recipe
I use Chinese five spice powder in a few Chinese dishes such as Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chinese Stir Fried Vegetables.
The original recipe requires Sichuan Pepper which is not easily available in Pakistan so I substitute it with white pepper. Here is the recipe for Chinese five spice powder, you should ground it fresh so it will give the best aroma and taste.
- Star Anise 3
- Cloves 5
- Cinnamon Stick 1 big
- Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
- White Pepper Powder 1/2 tsp
Dry roast fennel seeds and then grind all ingredients in an electric grinder or food processor.
Put through a sieve to get the fine powder.
Use immediately or store in an air tight jar.
