Hariyali Chicken Tikka Recipe
This recipe was shared in the group by two very nice group members Hina Ikhlaq and Ushna Adnan. I combined both the recipes and tried in my own kitchen and the result was superb.
You can make Plain Hariyali Chicken Tikka with this recipe and can also add 2 tbsp cream at the end and coat the tikka pieces in that to make it creamy hariyali chicken tikka.
This dish can be served with naan, roti and rice. It is a quick and nice addition to the table if you are inviting over some guests for dinner.
- Boneless Chicken Cut in 1 inch cubes 500 g
- Mint leaves 1/2cup
- Coriander leaves 1/2 cup
- Green chillies 4 to 5
- Cumin powder 1 tbsp
- Garlic cloves 4
- Lemon juice 2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder 1 tbsp
- Yogurt 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- A piece of Coal (optional)
Put mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, cumin powder, garlic cloves, salt, lemon juice, garam masala powder, 2 tbsp oil and yogurt in a food processor and make a paste. If you want it less spicy put around 2 green chilies and if you want it more spicy you can increase the number of chilies you are adding. You can also adjust the salt to your taste.
Marinate chicken pieces in that paste for at least two hours.
Now take and pan and put chicken pieces in that. Cook it on high heat for 2-3 minutes then turn the heat low and cook it covered for another 10 minutes till chicken is cooked through. Keep on flipping the chicken meanwhile so it gets evenly cooked from all sides.
If some gravy is left in the pan then turn the heat to medium and coat the chicken pieces well in the sauce till none is left in the pan.
If you like to add cream then add 2 tbsp of cream and coat it well two on medium heat.
While the chicken was cooking, place a coal over another burning stove till it turns red. When chicken gets cooked place a piece of aluminium foil or a piece of bread over the chicken and put the hot coal over it and pour some oil or ghee on that and cover the pan with lid. The coal will release the smoke and your tikka will get this nice BBQ flavor but this is optional.
